[1] Camille Serme (Fra) 2-0 Coline Aumard (Fra) 11-6, 11-4 (22m)

It was the first appearance from Camille at the venue, and she loved it. Coline came once in 2017 -at the Nefs, reached the quarters – and was eager to show the good form she is enjoying since she moved to England.

And Coline really took the game to her compatriot/friend at the start of the game. Playing aggressive, accurate squash, Coline moved her opponent nicely to the four corners for a few points, up to 3/3. Camille reassessed, stepped up and took the control back, 7/3 before taking the 11m game 11/6 on her second attempt.

The second game was all about Camille’s experience at that level I felt, 5/1, 8/3, with no fault of Coline, but Camille assertive squash didn’t give her compatriot a chance to really get into that game… 11/4…

Camille
It was not easy. I was pretty nervous when I came in the arena, I never had so many people for my first round, everybody told me about how amazing the crowd was here, it’s all true! It’s already full, it’s incredible. So I just want to keep playing all week and keep the momentum.

Yesterday, I saw her play against Melissa, and she was volleying a lot, so I tried to prevent that, and also, made sure I played deep on her forehand, as yesterday, she was so good on the backhand. Also, just wanted to play my shots, relax, and take the opportunity when it presented itself.

Yes, we played very few matches on PSA, and touch wood, we would like to keep it that way…
